Amanda's big news is that she's been admitted to Northwestern. I wish I could have recorded that phone call: she was so bubbling over it was hard to understand what she was saying. The essence of the message was, "I'm so excited! I'm so glad I did everything you said, no matter how obnoxious you were." And so am I; I don't mind being a pain in the neck if it works.
I saw Amanda again when I was in Chicago in August; she was thrilled with her summer orientation program, sponsored by one of the big law firms in the city. School hadn't started yet, so she was more excited than exhausted -- at least for the moment.
2010 Update: "Northwestern Law students Amanda Barrera JD '11 and Kelsey Vidaillet JD '11 recently competed in and advanced to the semi-final round in the National Latino Law Student Association (NLLSA) Moot Court Competition held at Yale University. This marks Northwestern’s first year of participation in the competition which is a part of the NLLSA annual conference."
